Color Guard Members Needed

Color Guard Members Needed!
Posted on 06/20/2018

If you are entering 8th grade and are interested in becoming a part of the DHS Band program, but do not play a musical instrument, please consider joining COLORGUARD. The Colorguard is a group of students who twirl the flags, rifles and batons while performing with the marching band. There is no previous experience necessary - we will teach you everything you need to know! The requirement is simply a commitment to attend practices two evenings each week, Mondays (guard only) and Thursdays (with the full band) from 6-8PM. There are 10 - 15 performances per year, which are mostly marching in parades around the region. We also perform two seasonal shows per year at the high school. Despite the hard work, we have a lot of fun together!

Every other year, the band also travels to music festivals. This past April, we went to Philadelphia where the flag/ rifle team received Superior ratings (highest possible) and the batons received an Excellent rating.

If twirling isn’t your thing, we are also seeking National Line members. This is the group who carries the American flag, School flags and the banner in the front of the band for parades. To be a part of this group, the commitment requires only one night per week of marching practice.

For more information or if you are interested in joining, please email cmanning@douglasps.net or text/ call: 508-397-8276.
