The 8th Annual Douglas Middle School Science and Engineering Fair will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018.

Parents/Relatives: 
Are you or do you know someone who is willing to judge at the fair? Please fill out the 2018 Science and Engineering Fair Judge/Volunteer Information Form 

Things to Complete Before the First Meeting

Please make sure your parent/guardian has signed the 2018 Parent/Guardian Science and Engineering Fair Information Letter

Familiarize yourself with the 2018 Science and Engineering Fair Due Date Calendar (Last updated 1/25/18)

Refer to the 2018 Science and Engineering Project Guidelines to view the project requirements and get started setting up your logbook and choosing a topic.

Once you have chosen 3 possible topics, complete the 2018 Science/Engineering Project Proposal Form

Check your school email to find out when you will have your WIN meetings and to find out if your topic has been approved.
We are in the process of determining an after-school meeting time for students who are already committed to both band and chorus.

Things to Complete After WIN Meeting 1
1/25 (8th grade), 1/26 (7th grade)

Only one group member needs to submit each form.

Refer to the 2018 Science and Engineering Project Meeting 1 Presentation

Complete the 2018 Science/Engineering Question Proposal Form by Monday, 1/29

Find background resources and submit them on the 2018 Background Information Source Form by Monday, 1/29

Things to Complete After WIN Meeting 2
1/31 (8th grade), 2/1 (7th grade)

Complete your Background Research. Read your articles, take notes in your logbook(s), and type a paper that ends with your underlined hypothesis. Make sure all partner's names are on it and that you have given it a title. Email the paper to Mrs. GravesonPayne and bring in a printed copy on Monday, 2/5. 

Complete your Experimental Design. Write a rough draft in your logbook(s) and then type it into a Google Doc. Include your Question, Hypothesis, Materials, Procedure and Data Table. Make sure all partner's names are on it. Email it to Mrs. GravesonPayne and bring in a paper copy on Monday, 2/5.

Things to Complete After WIN Meeting 3
2/5 (8th grade), 2/9 (7th grade)

Have a parent/adult complete Form D if you will be using power tools, chemicals, electricity, fire, etc.

If you have submitted your Experimental Design, you will get an email from Mrs. GravesonPayne by 2/11 suggesting any necessary changes. Once you have made those changes, complete Form 1A and 1B, Form C if you will have participants, and start your experiment!

Experiments should be completed by the end of February break (2/25).

All 7th and 8th Grade Students-Please check your school email Saturday morning for important instructions about completing your trifold. If you cannot complete it this weekend, please plan to bring it to school to work on during WIN on Monday.
