From the 10/12/18 DMS Newsletter:

Medtronic STEM Day was a HUGE Success!

Over 42 Medtronic employees worked together to create a very special STEM Day event exclusively for 42 Douglas Middle Schoolers on October 11th, 2018. Their creative and informative infographic below gives just a taste of the exciting activities they planned and carried out for our students.

Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of interactive stations that got them dancing and measuring their heart rate, exploring real and imagined worlds in a virtual environment, practicing laparoscopic surgical skills, and engineering and testing dialysis filtration. They also recorded data throughout the morning that was then graphed and analyzed in real-time, showing how powerful analytics can be in understanding STEM concepts. Medtronic was also gracious enough to provide snacks, a delicious lunch, and some excellent Medtronic swag. Ms. Alcott, Mr. Delaney, and Mrs. GravesonPayne were all pleased to accompany the Douglas students. The students impressed the Medtronic employees with their mature behavior and inquisitiveness. They made us all very proud!
