Online Ordering Now Open for DMS Yearbooks
The Douglas Middle School Yearbook Club meets after school several times a month from September to June. Members of the club are learning how to select a yearbook theme and cover design; take photos of school events and activities and then upload those pictures; create posters to advertise book sales; and brainstorm ideas for student surveys and book pages.
This year, Douglas Middle School is using Treering to produce the yearbook. This company enables us to design the yearbook completely in the software program, as well as take all orders online. With this company, students can still order a yearbook after the deadline; for a small shipping fee, the book can be mailed to their home if they order after the deadline has passed. In addition, Treering offers an opportunity for students and their families to have two free custom designed pages with their own photographs and content in their yearbook. Please DO NOT order from Lifetouch. We do not have a contract with them this year. If you receive an email from Lifetouch, please disregard it.
To customize and order a yearbook, go online to https://www.treering.com/purchase?PassCode=1016681159164514 or to https://www.treering.com/validate and enter passcode 1016681159164514, or scan the QR code below. Softcover books are $22 plus tax, and a hardcover option also is available for $28.87 plus tax. The deadline to customize and order is Monday, May 1. All books must be ordered online by the deadline to be included with the school delivery in mid-June. Please do not send money in with students; the school is not taking any direct orders this year. After the deadline date has passed, books may still be ordered online and delivered to your home for an additional shipping fee, but these will not arrive in time for the end of school.
Parents/guardians/caregivers of all students are invited to submit any photos they may have taken of any Douglas Middle School sports games, concerts, events, and other activities, for possible inclusion in the yearbook, by uploading at https://tr5.treering.com/school/245265/2022/school-content/school-photos. In addition, eighth-grade students also are invited to submit baby photos for a two-page spread in the yearbook. Photos can be uploaded directly to the Treering site once you create an account.
If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie Campbell, yearbook advisor, at [email protected]

Help, advice, tips, and assistance from Ms. Avedian
How to Succeed in Class:
Showing up for class isn’t enough. To succeed in your classes, you need to be engaged and involved.
When you’re engaged, you are more likely to learn and remember what’s being taught, the time goes faster, and you have a lot less to learn on your own.
|
Class Success Tips:
Be prepared: When you come to class, have all your homework done, and bring everything you’ll need with you. Be alert, well-rested, and ready to learn.
Eliminate distractions: Put away anything that isn’t directly related to what you are doing in that class.
Have a positive attitude: Walk into class with a positive attitude and be determined to learn as much as you can. Remember, the more you learn in class, the less you need to learn on your own.
Take good notes: Most test questions come from information that’s been presented in class. It is, therefore, important to have notes that are organized, complete, and neat to study from. Taking notes also helps you pay attention and stay focused - when you’re taking notes, you don’t have time to think about or do anything else.
Participate: the best way to stay engaged in your classes is to be an active participant. Ask and answer questions, and participate in discussions. There is nothing a teacher likes more than a student who is genuinely motivated and engaged in the classroom experience. Be that student!
Be a good group member: Being able to work well as part of a group is a skill that will help you succeed in school and in a career. Look at group work as an opportunity to develop and improve this important skill.
Watch your body language: Use body language that shows you’re engaged and paying attention. Sit up straight and look at your teachers when they are speaking. (If you act interested and engaged, you just may find that you feel more interested and engaged.)
Get back on track: All students get distracted and daydream sometimes, even when they’re trying to pay attention. When you catch your attention drifting, notice it and refocus on the class.

The Massachusetts Pirates, an indoor football team, are offering an opportunity for students. There is a game being hosted by the Massachusetts Pirates on Friday April 28 at 7:35 pm at the DCU center. It is “youth sports night” and there is a discount on tickets for student athletes as well as their parents. They will all be sitting in the same area, and it will make out to be a great night. If you are interested in this offer, please feel free to reach out to our director of marketing, Brett Mayerson, at [email protected] or by calling (908) 655-5891.
