The July and August calendars provide students with daily math review activities designed to reinforce important concepts learned in Grade 5 and help prepare them for success in middle school math. Families are encouraged to work together on the activities and discuss problem-solving strategies throughout the summer.

Please note that completed calendars are due at the start of the school year and will be reviewed in math class.
We hope all of our future 6th graders have a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing them in the fall!

📚 Incoming 6th Grade Families 📚
The Douglas Middle School 6th Grade Summer Reading Assignment is now available HERE!
Students are required to read a parent-approved novel that demonstrates character development and complete the accompanying Character Development Organizer before returning to school in the fall. This assignment will be graded in ELA class.
Please review the attached guidelines and assignment packet for complete details.
Have a great summer and happy reading! ☀️📖

Douglas Public Schools would like to inform families of an important update regarding middle school student Chromebooks.
Beginning this summer, all current Grade 6 and Grade 7 students will take their assigned Chromebook and charger home for the summer and return with the same device on the first day of school in the fall. The district will no longer collect Grade 6 and Grade 7 student devices at the end of the school year.
Current Grade 8 student devices will still be collected on Friday June 12th 2026 so they can be prepared and redistributed to incoming Grade 6 students for next school year.
This new approach is designed to help students continue developing accountability and responsibility as they prepare for high school, where students already follow a similar year-round take-home model.
If a device becomes damaged over the summer, families may report the issue directly to the Technology Department and arrange to drop off the device for repair.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact parentportal@douglasps.net.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to improve and modernize our student technology programs.
📚 7th Grade Summer Reading is Now Available!
Students entering 7th grade should review the summer reading assignment and be ready to complete the required Book Jacket Activity. This activity asks students to show their understanding of the novel by creating a new front and back book jacket, including an illustration, summary, and review blurbs.
Please visit the Middle School website or click HERE to access the summer reading materials and assignment details.
Happy reading, Tigers! 🐯📖

Collin LaChance and Nevaan Renjith came in first place with an exceptional rocket design that traveled 29 feet!
Second place went to Jeffrey Harrington and Camden Longchamps with a rocket flight of 27ft.
Third place went to Ethan Mascis and Abram Shepherd with a flight of 25ft.
Noah Cook came in fourth place.
All of the students needed to design, construct, and conduct 12 test flights of their rockets, followed by participating in an 8-team single elimination bracket to determine the top rocket. Students then analyzed their data. They calculated the mean, median, mode, and range, as well as graphed the rocket’s performance as both a dot plot and a box and whisker plot.

Both students were recognized for their outstanding leadership, kindness, and hard work throughout the school year. We are so proud of the positive example they set each day at DMS. Congratulations, Jace and Hannah — this recognition is well deserved! 👏

Please take note of the tentative final dates for the DMS after-school enrichment program. Feel free to reach out to Kayla Avedian with any questions or concerns.

Good afternoon,
I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Mr. Bishop. As many of you are aware, Mr. Bishop experienced a medical incident this past weekend. We are happy to share that he is doing well and remains in good spirits.
At this time, however, he will be unable to return for the remainder of the school year. During his absence, Mrs. Sullivan will serve as acting Principal with the support of Ms. Angela Muller-Crone.
As we head into the final weeks of the school year, we are looking forward to many exciting activities and events with our students and school community. We appreciate your continued support during this time.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the school at 508-476-3332.
Thank you.
Just a friendly reminder regarding morning parent drop-off procedures. To help ensure a safe and efficient arrival process, we ask that parents form a single-file line when dropping students off. The line should proceed along the right side of Davis Street/Gleason Court, continue through the half-circle driveway near the Middle School main entrance where students may exit their vehicles, and then continue back onto Davis Street to exit toward Route 16.
For safety reasons, please do not attempt to pass other vehicles while in the half-circle driveway. We also ask that students not be dropped off along the right side of the street after the second half-circle entrance, as this creates unsafe conditions for both students and traffic flow.
If you are unable to wait in the drop-off line, you are welcome to let your child out anywhere along Davis Street/Gleason Court heading down toward the Middle School, provided it can be done safely alongside the sidewalk. In these situations, students should only exit the vehicle from the right side of the car.
We greatly appreciate your cooperation, patience, and support in helping us maintain a safe arrival process for all students and families.
Thank you!
